On April 24, 2024, a delegation from Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sdn Bhd (BSP) visited the office of PetroVietnam Drilling & Well Service Corporation (PV Drilling) as part of the Business Performance Review meeting of PV DRILLING V. The meeting also included an online session with BSP’s office in Brunei.
The BSP delegation was led by Mr. Win Hinoul – General Manager, Wells and Mr. Andy May – Wells Delivery Manager, along with the head of departments and divisions directly managing the contract for the Semi – Submersible Tender Assist Drilling (TAD) rig – PV DRILLING V (“Rig”).
Representing PV Drilling was Mr. Lai Hoang Anh –Deputy Director in charge of PV Drilling’s Drilling Division together with heads of PV Drilling’s divisions and subsidiaries involved in the provision of the rig PV DRILLING V for BSP in Brunei.

During the meeting, BSP and PV Drilling conducted a comprehensive review of Rig’s operational performance in Q4 2023 and Q1 2024. The review focused on assessing all rig operations and management activities in respect of Health – Safety – Environment and Quality criteria to improve the service quality for the coming years.
In the second year operating in Brunei, the rig PV DRILLING V continued to achieve many significant milestones, such as Zero LTI (No Lost Time Incident) - certified by the International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC), the “Rig of the Year” award in the platform category from Shell Global and the “One Year Goal Zero” award. Throughout the year, PV DRILLING V has demonstrated outstanding operation in terms of safety and efficiency. Key achievement included the first successful 24-hour anchor handling during a rig move and receiving client’s commendations for completing the work ahead of schedule, setting new records in BSP’s data for running well completion tools and drill string assembly time, etc. In addition, PV Drilling also emphasized a strong commitment to local business development in rig operations and management. The local content rate reached up to 64.14% and the on-job training programs recorded a positive rate of 88.53%.
Later that day, PV Drilling’s subsidiaries including PVD Offshore, PVD Well Services, PVD Logging and PVD Tech presented their service capabilities to the BSP delegation. The presentation aimed to explore the opportunities for PV Drilling to provide additional well services to BSP besides the provision of drilling rig PV DRILLING V under the existing contract.
The visit concluded with both BSP and PV Drilling reaffirming their commitment to close collaboration, ensuring the continued efficient operation and management of the rig PV DRILLING V in 2024 and aiming for even greater achievements in the future.
