On March 20, in Vung Tau City, Petrovietnam Drilling & Well Service Corporation (PV Drilling) organized 2024 Health - Safety - Environment - Quality Review Conference (HSEQ Day).
Attending the conference, representing Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (Petrovietnam), was Mr. Cao Chi Kien - Deputy Manager in charge of Safety - Environment & ESG Division.
Regarding clients and partners, representatives from PVN Blocks 01&02, Vietsovpetro, PVEP-POC, BIENDONG POC, Cuu Long JOC, Harbour Energy, Hoang Long – Hoan Vu JOC, Phu Quoc POC, Thang Long JOC, Zarubezhneft, JVPC, Murphy Oil, and Idemitsu Vietnam, were present.
Representing PV Drilling's Leadership were Mr. Nguyen Xuan Cuong - Secretary of the Party Committee, President and CEO, Mr. Mai The Toan - Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the Board of Directors; Mr. Dinh Quang Nhut - Vice President, in charge of HSEQ; Mr. Nguyen Dinh Duong - Vice President; Mr. Hoang Xuan Bach - Chairman of the Trade Union; Heads of specialized departments under the Corporation's Head Office; leaders of subsidiaries; representatives of the HSEQ team; and outstanding HSEQ collectives and individuals of 2024.
HSEQ Day is one of PV Drilling's important annual events, serving as an opportunity for the Leadership and the HSEQ personnel to review activities and share experiences in performing their duties throughout the year. Simultaneously, it acts as a platform to share HSEQ management experiences with clients and partners and propose plans and solutions for the coming years. This is also an occasion to honor and reward collectives and individuals who have achieved outstanding results in the company's HSEQ efforts for the year.

The summary report from the Corporation's HSEQ Division indicated that in 2024, PV Drilling conducted its business operations safely and effectively. Accordingly, its owned drilling rigs achieved Zero LTI (no Lost Time Incidents), certified by the International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC). All offshore drilling rigs achieved a 100% utilization rate and a very high operating efficiency, averaging over 99%.
Mr. Nguyen Huy Trong – the Corporation's Head of the HSEQ Department, presents the 2024 summary report of HSEQ activities and the orientations and tasks for 2025.
Notably, PV Drilling received numerous awards from contractors and oil and gas regulatory bodies in its three key markets: Malaysia, Brunei, and Indonesia. Specifically, IADC recognized the PV DRILLING II rig for achieving 15 years of Zero LTI, the PV DRILLING VI rig for 10 years of Zero LTI, and the TAD - PV DRILLING V rig for 12 years of Zero LTI. Meanwhile, the Malaysia Petroleum Management (MPM) recognized the Amaryllis-1 well of Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd for achieving the lowest drilling cost of the year, with significant contribution from the PV DRILLING VI rig. Additionally, the PV DRILLING III rig completed drilling the final meter of BOC-28 (Bunga Orkid-C Field Development Project) and achieved the record for the longest well drilled in Malaysia for the second consecutive year, with a length of 6,970 meters.
Furthermore, environmental protection and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions are consistently prioritized throughout all production activities, ensuring compliance with the law and client requirements. Accordingly, the implementation of three fuel consumption reduction projects on the drilling rigs contributed to a total emission reduction of nearly 7,000 tones of CO2e in 2024.
In addition to presentations from subsidiaries PVD DD, PVD Tech, and PVD Logging, the conference featured lively discussions and the sharing of valuable and effective HSEQ experiences from the past year.

At the Conference, Chairman of the Board of Directors Mai The Toan highly praised the achievements made in 2024, especially the maintenance of the integrated HSEQ management system according to 3 standards: ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, and ISO 45001:2018. This system has been continuously maintained, regularly updated, and widely implemented from the Corporation down to its subsidiaries. Regarding HSEQ training, Mr. Mai The Toan was very impressed with the figure of nearly 18,000 HSEQ training sessions in 2024, a 44% increase compared to 2023. This demonstrates the importance placed on safety training by the Corporation and its subsidiaries, creating a solid foundation for maintaining the HSEQ achievements of the entire Corporation. In parallel with this, HSEQ commendation work has been carried out regularly and promptly, contributing to encouraging and motivating the maintenance and improvement of safety awareness in all production and business activities, and has become a distinctive feature of PV Drilling culture.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Cao Chi Kien, Deputy Manager in charge of Safety - Environment & ESG Division of the Group, acknowledged and highly appreciated PV Drilling's achievements in HSE and Quality work in 2024. He affirmed that the outstanding achievements in production and business operations and safety work of PV Drilling in the past year were not a coincidence but the result of maintaining the effectiveness, efficiency, and continuous improvement of the management system; strict compliance with technical procedures, safety, environmental, occupational health, and quality standards according to international practices; the close guidance of the leadership, the close coordination between contractors and partners, along with the continuous dedication and efforts of the entire team of engineers and staff, in which the contribution of HSE and Quality personnel is significant. Leader of the Safety - Environment & ESG Division hopes that PV Drilling will continue to make important contributions to the sustainable development of the unit as well as the Vietnam Oil and Gas industry.
Mr. Dinh Quang Nhut – Vice President and in charge of HSEQ gives concluding remarks at the Conference.
Delivering the concluding remarks at HSEQ Day 2025, Vice President Dinh Quang Nhut stated that, in addition to the KPIs presented in the report by the Corporation's Safety – Quality Division, there are three key tasks in HSEQ work for 2025 that must be effectively implemented: continuing to deploy comprehensive and in-depth HSEQ work, moving towards ESG and sustainable development; ensuring human safety throughout the Song Doc field decommissioning project; and effectively implementing phase 2 of the PV DRILLING VIII rig reactivation project. Accordingly, all the best practices in corporate governance and HSEQ work accumulated over the past 23 years will be leveraged by the team in successfully managing and operating the PV DRILLING VIII rig, meeting the expectations of Petrovietnam and ensuring investment efficiency.
