The jack up PV DRILLING VI rig owned by Petrovietnam Drilling and Well Service Corporation (PV Drilling) has completed a drilling contract for SK Earthon at Block 16-2 offshore Vietnam.
In accordance with the signed contract, PV DRILLING VI rig conducted the drilling and well testing services for SK Innovation Co., Ltd. (SK Earthon) from early 2023 at Block 16-2 offshore Vietnam. The drilling campaign was implemented safely and efficiently with an outstanding achievement of “an oil layer discovery” on 16 November, 2023. It also marked SK Earthon’s first oil discovery milestone through exploratory drilling in the last four years in Vietnam, after the discovery of hydrocarbon reserves in Block 15-1/05, in 2019.
This achievement definitely brought great joyfulness to SK Earthon after a long time of pursuing oil and gas exploration activity offshore Vietnam. Besides, it also contributes to enhance PV Drilling’s prestige as well as affirming our capability in rig provision.
