Recently, Malaysian Petroleum Management (MPM) conducted a comprehensive assessment of the field development project at Bokor Drilling Platform Echo (BODP-E), situated off the coast of Sarawak state, eastern Malaysia (the report was published on The Well Voice Magazine issued by MPM). The final report highlighted the successful positioning of the jack-up PV DRILLING VI on January 3, 2024, identifying it as a pivotal achievement that has enabled the advancement of subsequent project phases following years of delays.
The BODP-E platform was installed at an area with complicated seabed geological conditions, posing significant risks to rig move operations. This is evidenced by numerous failed attempts to position drilling rigs at this location. Despite these challenges, PV Drilling, through dedicated efforts and expertise, has positioned the Rig at the platform safely and efficiently.

In addition to the accurate positioning at BODP-E, PV DRILLING VI also contributed greatly to the project by effectively drilling 8 development wells with multiple accomplishments.
In particular, PV DRILLING VI completed its drilling program one month ahead of schedule, resulting in the actual well cost coming in lower than the approval for expenditure (AFE). Furthermore, PV DRILLING VI achieved the lowest recordable non-productive time (NPT) with below 3% and the drilling efficiency is higher than average in Malaysia, including rate of penetration (ROP) is higher than 42.75%, flat time is higher than 9.52%, and completion rate is higher than 50%.
In terms of drilling operation, PV DRILLING VI successfully implemented offline features during batch drilling, enabling well cleanup and unloading activities on a completed well while concurrently drilling a new well. The Rig also worked closely with the operator and other 3rd party service providers to implement advanced technologies in drilling and well completion processes such as My-Enhanced Bi-directional Plug (My-eBP), tandem scraper run via DrillRDillo (DRD), Automated Trajectory Drilling (ATD), Interventionless Precision Valve (IPV1).
After completing the drilling program at BODP-E platform on June 7, 2024, PV DRILLING VI continued to be commissioned by client Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd (PCSB) to drill high-pressure, high-temperature exploration wells in West Malaysian waters.
PV Drilling’s fleet currently consists of 4 jack-up drilling rigs, 1 tender assisted drilling (TAD) rig and 1 land rig. As of early 2024, all of PV Drilling’s rigs have engaged in contracts with overseas clients. PV DRILLING I, PV DRILLING III and PV DRILLING VI are operating in Malaysia, while PV DRILLING II is working for a client in Indonesia. The TAD rig PV DRILLING V is under contract in Brunei, and PV DRILLING 11 is in Algeria.
