PVD Drilling Division is one of PV Drilling’s subsidiary that currently manages and operates PV Drilling owned rigs and other leased rigs (if any).

As the primary division in charge of PV Drilling’s core business, PVD Drilling Division always prioritizes to develop the human to ensure stable quality human resources and a selected succession team for sustainable development. In order to perform systematically and effectively the training and development of human resource, PVD Drilling Division has completed and executed the specialized drilling rig crew’s development system since the early of 2014, and has achieved many considerable results so far. 

This is an advanced development training system, built by combining modern programs such as Succession Planning, On-the-Job Training (OJT), Capability Assessment Program (CAP), and Performance Appraisal into a comprehensive system... With the expansion of operations in the region, the development training system according to IADC and API standards has made a very positive contribution to the development of local labor resources for host countries where PV Drilling rigs are present.

Beside the training and development program, PVD Drilling Division always applied information technology and digital transformation into operation and management. PVD Drilling Division currently applies many advanced management systems such as Maximo, ERP Oracle, Simple soft... that contributes to stabilize the rig fleet’s operation, strengthen the corporate governance, minimize human-related incidents, and enhance its operational efficiency and competitiveness.

Over 20 years operated, PVD Drilling Division has closely performed many successful drilling campaign of both local and regional oil and gas operators including PVEP, Vietsovpetro, JVPC, Cuu Long JOC, Petronas, Repsol, Sapura Energy, Hibiscus, Pertamina, Brunei Shell Petroleum, Groupement Bir Seba... Taking this chance, PVD Drilling Division has built up good relationships and successfully formed partnerships with such international drilling contractors as Borr Drilling, JDC, Maersk Drilling, Vantage, Saipem … by utilizing the available resources of work force.

In addition, PVD Drilling Division has gained valuable experience while operating at international markets such as Thailand, Myanmar, Malaysia, Algeria ... PVD Drilling Division is confident and ready to take on new tasks as the fleet of drilling rigs owned by PV Drilling Corporation continues to grow and its operating area is expanded.

Jack-up rigs

01. Jack-up rigs

The management and operation of Jack-up rig has been known as the core business of PVD Drilling Division, which is operated by an experienced and dedicated team. All the jack-up rigs have kept their performance absolute safety (Zero Lost Time Incident) from the first days of operation and operational efficiency of over 99%. The fleet has made important contributions to the success of safe and effective drilling campaigns of its Operators.

The fleet that is operated by PVD Drilling Division has gained valuable experience while operating in domestic and overseas markets. They usually receive highly appreciate and compliment letters from clients for their remarkable achievements of safe and effective performance, especially the Jack-up rig was honored for the record of the longest Extended Reach Drilling (ERD) in terms of measured depth (MD) for two consecutive years 2023 and 2024

Land rig

02. Land rig

With the aim of expanding drilling service abroad, PV Drilling completely built and successfully inaugurated the land rig in 2007. Since then, the rig was awarded the contract and officially implemented the drilling campaign in Algeria. PV Drilling designed and equipped this rig with specialized equipment to adapt with wells with high-pressure formation in the harsh condition of the desert. With PVD Drilling Division’s operation, the land rig has achieved many consecutive years without Lost time Incident (Zero LTI) and reached 99% of operational efficiency rate. The Rig has obtained this significant achievement in such a harsh working environment as Sahara desert.

Tender Assist Drilling (TAD) Rig

03. Tender Assist Drilling (TAD) Rig

In 2012, PV Drilling started drilling campaign for Bien Dong POC with the TAD PV DRILLING V rig and successfully drilled many HPHT wells at Hai Thach and Moc Tinh Platform. In 2019, the PV DRILLING V rig was awarded the contract in Brunei. Since the early of 2022, she has been executed drilling program for Brunei Shell Petroleum (BSP). PVD Drilling Division, which well experiences in the region market since 2016, operated the TAD rig in absolute safety manner and operating efficiency of over 98%, and has been highly appreciated by BSP for its service quality. Notably, in two consecutive years 2023 and 2024, Shell Global honored the PV DRILLING V rig as the “Rig of the Year” in the TAD/platform segment.

In addition to operating the TAD Rig, PVD Drilling Division has experience as an agent, which provides support service for others' deep-water rigs when operating in the Vietnamese market.
